When looking at pictures and television shows from a few decades ago, it can start to seem that family time is a thing of the past. It is too easy now to have fun on your own, with the Internet and portable gaming systems, and even on a family vacation there are ways to barely spend any time together. But this is certainly not how things need to be. If you're spending a week at Puerto Vallarta condo rentals or just all looking for something to do on a Thursday evening there are lots of choices when it comes to family activities.

While everyone in your family has a personality of their own, there are certainly things that you will all like to do. If you're an active group that all has different sports that you're playing throughout the week and the summer than you might choose to spend some time together at summer hockey camps. A family that is a little more reserved might enjoy creating their own book club where they all read the same book once a month.

Choose one day out of the week or month that is just reserved for spending time with the family. You might feel at first that you're forcing your kids to hang out with you but sometimes you just need to put it on the calendar to make sure no one schedules themselves to be somewhere else. You could take everyone to a London Ontario stable one evening to all have a horse-riding lesson or could just pull out a board game while at the house. There are so many things that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Turn off the technology. Most of us can't imagine life without all of the devices that we now carry with us on a daily basis. And while we might want the Internet when we're booking Niagara Falls hotels or checking movie times, we really don't need the computer or phone to spend the afternoon with the family. By banning technology during family time you will find that you're not just all sitting in the same room of PEI luxury cottage rentals with several people texting and typing. And sadly enough, many kids will not open their mind to trying something new unless chatting with their friends is completely not an option. They might even find that they like a day without their phone. You might too.
